This summer heat reminds me of the hot summer days in NYC. My first trip to NYC was in a hottt July month. The sun beat down hard on the sidewalk beaming the heat up from the bottom of your feet. At night if you put your hand on the sidewalk it was still warm. People filled the streets, glistening in the sun. Everything seemed more alive. The days were hot and the nights were cool. Restaurants all suddenly had patios by placing chairs and tables on the sidewalk. The Broadway Shows were full, the clubs were hopping, the Chinese markets were thriving, Little Italy was alive and well with the aroma of marinera over powering the air, and Central park stayed busy day and night. It rained. It was like the whole city was getting a bath. The smell of the rain compiled with the smell of the city was electrifying. That was the summer I fell in love with NYC.
Red apple.
Take a bite.
The dog days of summer
Sun beating down.
It is hot.
The sidewalks are hotter.
Put your hand on the cement.
Ouch, that burns, and there is gum on my finger.
People passing by, China town thriving.
Dead ducks in the window. Or dogs?
Sidewalks become restaurants.
The sun is still beating down.
Central Park is still central.
Everyone is there.
Mama Mia it is hottt…
It is making me La Miserables.
Where did everybody go?
Are those flip flops from the Hamptons?
Those are pricey flip flops.
The young and the old.
Jump on the Jitney.
The Island is on Fire.
SPF 45People all around.
Sand beneath their toes.
Is that a dog?
They’re everywhere.
Bloomingdales, you say?
Only posh dogs go there.
Penthouse breeds, not shelter dogs.
Sleeping in Louis Vuitton, eating caviar.
Tourists touring.
I Heart New York .
Lights flashing in Times Square .
Hearts beating faster,
Time flies in New York .
Ground Zero, Empire State Building , Statue of Liberty .
Ellis Island, the Guggenheim, the Met.
The staples of the city.
Atleast once thestaple remover has been used.
Those under the street that have lost their mind.
Feed me please I have no place to sleep.
Look @ me dance, and put a dollar in my jar.
I'm hiding in the corner. Is this my home?
Save me Mount Sainaide.
I am more than just a statistic.
You have never lost your mind chasing your dream?
The smell of the subways, the tunnel wind painting your face.
Hold on to your purse, try to grab a seat.
Take the 6 for local stops, and the 4 is the express.
Grand central station 6 stops ahead.
Lady Liberty has seen too much.
Shut your cement eye.
The smell of the air mixed with the smell of the rain.
You just have to sniff it to know what I mean. Exhilarating and unique.
Like NYC on Sesame Street .Grover’s and Oscars all over the street.
An Elmo here and there, though most have lost their head.
The city that never sleeps.
You would think it would at least take a nap.
Top of the world.
Highest mountain.
Eye of the sky.
Adored by some.
Hated by some.
Intrigued by all.
Have a pretzel and sink on in.
We have been waiting for you.
